When we started Blackstone Ute Co, we spent a lot of time researching the best way to build custom dog boxes that were durable, smart, practical, secure, and built for New Zealand conditions.
We talked to dog owners, watched how they travel, and saw firsthand what worked, and what didn’t. From tradies taking their working dogs to the job site, to hunters heading off-road, one thing stood out: most boxes on the market were either overbuilt, underbuilt, or just didn’t fit the brief.

From day one, safety was non-negotiable. We didn’t like the idea of dogs bouncing around unsecured or in flimsy setups. That’s why all our boxes are made with secure latches, strong locks, and smart airflow design. On the road or off it, the dogs stay put - safe, calm, and contained.
Easy Clean-Up
We know dogs bring dirt, fur, and who-knows-what else into the ute. So we made the boxes easy to clean, no fabric, no fiddly corners. Just hose it out, wipe it down, and you’re good to go.
